The Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) has established the Higher Education Long Term Strategy 2003-2010 known as HELTS (Higher Education Long Term Strategy) which is an effort to increase the role of higher education in Indonesia with the aim of strengthen the nation’s competitiveness in the face of global change.
With the enactment of the 2003 Education System Law and the issuance of Guidelines for Higher Education Quality Assurance by the Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education, all University must be providers the quality assurance Unit.
The quality Assurance Unit in Faculty of Geological Engineering aims to maintain the quality of performance and recruitment of lecturer and educational staff in order to create an effective and efficient work environment in labor aspect.
UNIT AND FUNCTION OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNITS
The Quality Assurance Unit (abbreviated as UPM) is a faculty level quality assurance unit that implements quality assurance of Faculty of Geological Engineering (abbreviated as FTG) programmes. UPM consists of a chairman, two members of the Quality control Group (abbreviated as GKM) of Bachelor Study Programme and two members of GKM of Post Graduate Study Programme who were appointed and terminated by The Dean. Furthermore, GKM is a quality assurance unit of the study programme level that conduct the assessment of a study programme quality. UPM is responsible to the Dean and provides periodic reports to the Quality Assurance Unit of University (SPM). Meanwhile, GKM is responsible to UPM.
The function of UPM is as a tool of the Dean in coordinating the quality assurance process of education, research and community service programmes in the faculty in order to achieve established quality standards and ensure the continuous improvement of the faculty’s programmes and activities.
The function of GKM is as a tool of The Dean in coordinating the quality assurance process of education programmes in the study programme, especially in monitoring-assessment-evaluation of the output outcome of the study programme that has been established and conveying recommendations for continous improvement and implementation of lectures.
GOVERNANCE OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT
UPM coordinates with The Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and The Community Service Research Manager in monitoring, accessing and evaluating research and service activities in the faculty atmosphere. Meanwhile, UPM coordinates with The Vice Dean for Resources in monitoring, accessing and evaluating the services provided by faculty to stakeholders. On the other hand, GKM coordinates with UPM and SPM in formulating graduate learning achievement programmes and study programme, and also assessment instruments
