The Faculty of Geological Engineering, Universitas Padjadjaran (FTG Unpad), has successfully conducted a Community Service Program (PPM-KKN) led by lecturers and involving students in Banyuresmi Village, Sukasari District, Sumedang Regency. The initiative was designed to enhance community preparedness and resilience in disaster-prone areas through participatory and practical approaches.

One of the key outcomes of the program was the publication of the “Panduan Mitigasi Bencana Desa Banyuresmi Tanggap Bencana”. This guidebook provides practical instructions to help local residents anticipate and respond to geological hazards such as earthquakes and landslides. In addition, it includes guidelines for first aid in emergencies, offering the community a comprehensive reference for both disaster response and emergency preparedness.

The KKN-PPM program, titled “Developing a Disaster-Prepared Village through Landslide Hazard Mapping, Evacuation Route Planning, Community Outreach, and Optimization of Disaster Post Functions as Climate Change Mitigation Using Participatory Learning and Action,” was implemented comprehensively in Banyuresmi Village. The activities included hazard mapping, evacuation route planning, awareness campaigns, and strengthening the role of local disaster posts, all of which empower the community to respond effectively to climate-related risks.

Through these integrated initiatives, FTG Unpad not only contributes to disaster risk reduction but also strengthens student involvement in real-world community problem-solving. These efforts highlight the faculty’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and building resilient communities in disaster-prone regions.
