The implementation of PPM is aligned with the objectives of the KKN program. Dr. Winantris, MS., and Dr. Lia Jurnaliah, MT, supervise this activity. 17 students from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Geology, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Marine, and Communication, contribute significantly.
KKN was held on January 26, 2023 at Bangunkarya Village, Pangandaran. The people of Bangunkarya Village still use river water to meet their daily needs. The quality of turbid river water needs to meet the Water Quality Standards for Sanitary Hygiene Purposes. Likewise, the water quality from the springs is still cloudy and smells. These conditions need to be processed to meet the standard. A simple filter to eliminate turbidity and smell can overcome this problem. Kampung Cisangkal, a candidate for Tourism Village, should provide clean water for internal and tourist needs.
The use of this simple filter was socialized in three hamlets in Bangunkaraya Village: Mekarmulya, Karangbungur, Karangmulya, and Wangkalronyok hamlets. The demonstration of the installation of water filters and maintenance techniques was attended by approximately 15-20 individuals in each hamlet. Seventy filter units have been distributed to the community during socialization activities. This activity is expected to be continued in the following years with a larger filter scale.
