The Ciletuh Geopark area, located in West Java Province, is one of the global geoparks recognized by UNESCO in Indonesia. It has many natural wonders and a variety of sites spread across 74 villages in eight sub-districts: Cisolok District, Cikakak District, Pelabuhan Ratu City, Simpenan District, Waluran District, Ciemas District, Ciracap District, and Surade District.

Geotourism development of geosite candidates needs to pay attention to technical policies as guidelines in the management and utilization of geological heritage resources. One of the tools in the geological heritage management guidelines is technical guidance to assess the potential of a geological heritage site.

Geological heritage resource assessment aims to identify geosites that are eligible to be proposed as geological heritage sites in the study area. Aspects of the assessment include scientific values, education values, tourism values, and risk degradation.

The purpose of this community engagement (PPM) activity is to provide a basis for qualitative and quantitative assessment of the potential of a geological location as a geosite. The results of the assessment are expected to be the basis for the development of geotourism in Waluran Mandiri Village, which has unique geological diversity (Curug Pari, Curug Luhur, Cekdam Situendah), natural diversity (Hutan Pinus, Hutan Damar, Kebun Karet dan Teh), cultural diversity (Tari Liliuran, Tari Ibing Pasirpiring, Pencak Silat), and socio-economic diversity (Hanjeli processing, Tea processing).

The results of the assessment are expected to be the basis for the development of geotourism in Waluran Mandiri Village and its surroundings, which has unique geological diversity and can conduct scientific, educational, and tourism assessments as a first step before being submitted by the central agency to be proposed as a geological heritage site.
